The 1940 Inventory of Methodist Buildings records a former United Methodist chapel at Hay Green, Bournville.
It is described as brick built, and seating 150 people on chairs. In addition to the main hall, there were two other rooms. In 1940 it was in the Birmingham (St Paul’s, Selly Oak) circuit.
The 1937 Ordnance Survey map shows a Methodist chapel on Cob Lane, at its junction with Hay Green Lane. Is that this chapel? The chapel does not appear on the 1914 Ordnance Survey map, so its date of construction is unclear. Mind you, in 1914, Cob Lane was largely undeveloped.
The chapel is sited within the Bournville Village Trust (BVT). The building is no longer a chapel, but came back into BVT management in 2021 and has been leased to a local community group – South Birmingham Muslim Community Association (SBMCA).

The 1970 Statistical returns have this chapel down as having been built in 1936, although as it is credited in 1940 as an ex-United Methodist cause it may be safe to assume that the congregation started meeting before 1932.
