Keinton has not one, but two Bible Christian chapels opposite each other on Castle Street. Both area in residential use.
The earlier chapel, part of a terrace on the south side of the road, carries the information “BUILT 1832: ENLARGED 1858”. It later became the Temperance Hall. The later chapel, on the northern side of the road, was already there by the time of the 1885 Ordnance Survey map.
Keinton (sic) Bible Christian chapel is included in the 1867 register of places of religious worship
The 1940 Inventory of Methodist Buildings tells us that the building was stone built and seated 150 people on pews. In addition to the main hall there was a Sunday school room. In 1940 it was part of the Somerset Mission circuit.
