The Dictionary of Methodism tells us that “After occupying several other places, the United Methodist Free Church acquired what they renamed Hope Chapel in Lower Borough Walls in 1866 and moved to a new church at Beechen Cliff in 1913”. On the 1882/3 Ordnance Survey map it is labelled Hope Chl (Meth UF) ; by the 1902/1930 and 1936 maps the building has no label.
In 2016 permission was granted for conversion to residential use and the building was converted into 6 flats.
