Longton, Edensor Road Methodist New Connexion chapel and schools were designed by J W Firth of Oldham, architect. The contractor was P H Bennion of Longton and the cost £900 exclusive of the heating apparatus. A report of the stone laying stated that
“the style is a free treatment of Gothic, and it will be executed in brick, with blue brick and stone tracings. The inside joinery will be of selected red deal. The chapel is 45 ft long and 33ft 4in wide inside, and the schoolroom 40ft by 22ft. There willalso be two classrooms and a minister’s vestry. There will be accommodation for 300 worshippers in the chapel and about 200 children in the schools”
