Vauxhall Bridge Road United Methodist Free Church was built in 1873. A report of its opening stated
“The building is a neat, plain structure, seating 450 persons. The cost of the building will be about £1800. Mr Ranger of Finsbury Pavement is the architect and Messrs Richardson of London Wall the contractors”

The religious census of London (1886) recorded morning and evening congregations of 131 and 168. Eighteen years on, The religious life of London (1904) congregations had declined: 32 and 74 attendees.
There is also a report of the opening in the UMFC Magazine
“The friends who have hitherto worshipped at Lewisham Street have procured a site for the erection of a new chapel”
The foundation stone was laid on Thursday May 1st, 1873. “The company afterwards adjuorned to Eccleston Congregational School Room for a tea and public meeting.”
The architect was Mr. W. Ranger. The building would cost about £1,500. It had taken thirteen years to find a site, and in that time £820 had been raised.
