The Annals of Tipton website tells us that in 1836 the Methodist New Connexion built a chapel in Canal Street which was in between Owen Street and New Cross Street, parallel to both. It is listed in the Inventory of Methodist Buildings compiled after Methodist Union on 1932 and published in 1940. It is described as a sizable brick-built building, seating 420 people on pews. There was a Sunday school and 3 other rooms. In 1940 it was in the Oldbury circuit.
Street View shows the whole area has been re-developed. Canal Street has disappeared.
