A report of the stone laying in August 1882 stated that the new chapel
“will be built of Bullwell Stone in regular courses, relieved with Coxheath stone dressings, and bands of blue Cropwell stone. In the interior all the exposed woodwork will be stained and varnished. Beneath the chapel, which will seat 500 persons, will be the schoolrooms including assembly rooms for 350 children, classrooms, vestry, kitchen, heating apparatus, etc. The chapel above will have a jstepped floor, the whole being co constructed as to permit, when circumstances require it , of the entire structure being thrown into one church with a gallery. The architect is A G(sic) Goodall of Nottingham, Mr J Smith, of Bulwell, is the contractor and Mr John Price the clerk of works, The outlay will be £2000.”

There is a report of the stone laying in Methodist New Connexion Magazine vol.85, 1882 pp633-635 and of the opening on 23 August 1882 (Methodist New Connexion Magazine v 86, 1883 pp703-704). The chapel replaced one built in 1838.
