Breaston Methodist New Connexion chapel

This building was the second MNC chapel in Breaston. According to the Derbyshire Historic Environment Record, the first was built in 1803. The Religious Census return of 1851 states 1813.

The first chapel could seat 270, although attendance on 30 March 1851 was lower (80 Sunday School scholars in the morning; 41 adults and 88 scholars in the afternoon; 157 adults in the evening.

A full account of the story of the Methodist New Connexion in Breaston, and the opening of the chapel on October 31st, 1875 is attached. A description of the chapel, supplied by the architect Mr. A.H Goodall is included.

This chapel was thought to seat 200 in 1940, rising to 220 in 1970.

The building is still an active Methodist church.
