Catherine Dymond was born on 30th April 1900 in Yunnan, the eldest daughter of the Bible Christian missionaries Francis John Dymond and Maud Marie Cannon.
She went out to China herself as a missionary in 1925, working among women in Yunnan until 1948.
On 18th July 1928 she married her fellow United Methodist missionary Kenneth William May. They had two children, one of whom followed his father and both grandfathers into the ministry.
