Castleford, Whitwood Mere UMFC chapel was built of brick between 1898 and 1905 to replace the Potteries chapel in nearby Wellington Street which was used thereafter by the Sunday school. In 1940 the premises consisted of a chapel seating 370 in pews, two school halls (?the Wellington Street building), and three other rooms. The chapel was still in use as a Methodist place of worship in 1965 but appears to have closed by 1970.
