Burnley, Claremont Street, Padiham Road UMFC chapel was built of stone in 1890. The preliminaries were reported thus:
“In a limited competition for proposed United Methodist Free Church, Claremont Street, Bromley, in which five sets of drawings were received, the plans by Mr V Dunkerley, architect, of Burnley were unanimously accepted for the above church. The chapel provides accommodation for about 800 people, and there are minister’s and trustees’ vestries. The front elevation is of a bold design, with a tower at one angle, and is designed in uniformity with the schools adjoining. The cost is estimated at £2,100.”
Building News 15.8.1890 p.214

The error in stating that this building would be in Bromley was corrected in the Building News on 14.11.1890. The architect was based in Bank Chambers, Burnley.

In 1940 there was a chapel which seated 683 in pews, three school halls and eighteen other rooms. The chapel had been closed by 1970 but the building still exists and is now occupied by an upholsterer. Streetview shows long narrow round headed windows with projecting key stones accompanied by pedimented entrances.
