A Sunday school containing an assembly room, 62 feet by 36 feet, six classrooms, and an infants’ room 22 feet by 16 feet, was built in 1881. At the same time the chapel was lengthened by 25 feet and a new gallery installed. The alterations and new buildings were expected to cost £2400. The architects were Messrs Maxwell, Tuke and Hurst of Southport and Bury and the contractor was Joseph Robertshaw.
