Velvet bar in Market Street, Wakefield is the former Wakefield United Methodist Fee Church. In its time it has also been a sorting office and post office. It is a Grade II Listed Building and you can see a picture and description here.
The former United Methodist Chapel is a large, classical building built of red brick with ashlar quoins and dressings, It was built around 1860
By contrast the former Primitive Methodist chapel on the opposite side of Market Street a little further down, in 2023 appears unloved and neglected.
