Armley, Providence Chapel was built in 1839. In 1851 it provided 100 free and 302 other sittings. The building measured 13 yards by 112 yards and besides the chapel there was a school room and two other rooms. A Sunday school associated with the chapel in Carr Croft was built in 1865.

By 1888 a new chapel in Hall Road had been opened, but these premises continued to be use for Sunday school purposes until a school building was erected adjacent to the new chapel
