Hatch Bottom was the place chosen by the Bible Christians for their chapel in West End, between Southampton and Eastleigh. The area was evangelised by the Botley Mission.

There was a Sunday School in Hatch Bottom from 1845, and the chapel seems to have followed in 1847. By 1851 they were holding three Sunday services, claiming that on March 30th 64 attended the morning service, 30 in the afternoon, and 100 in the evening. The capacity was recorded in 1940 as being 240.

We know where the chapel was, and that it had a long life. Can anyone help us build up a better picture of life in Hatch Bottom, or West End chapel?
