The former Methodist New Connexion chapel on Park Road, Sunderland dates from 1887. The architect was J Eltringham.
It is still in use as a place of worship and community resource.

Bede’s Tower Estate Methodist New Connexion chapel was built in 1886 It was designed by John Eltringham of Sunderland and was expected to cost £5-,000 – £6,000. A report of the stone laying stated
“The chapel will be 43ft. long, 60ft. wide, and will be capable of seating 750 persons. It will comprise a nave and aisle, transept, chancel, and organ chamber. A gallery will run round the two sides and the end of the chapel. The schoolroom, which is to be attached will be 58ft, long by 34ft.wide, with sitting accommodation for 400 adults, At the east end of the schoolroom will be the infant school, and at the west end are two classrooms, the whole giving accommodation for 500 scholars. Over the two classrooms there has been arranged a gallery, which will give additional seating accommodation for 50 persons, and over the infant school there will be caretaker apartments, It is intended that the chapel shall be built of stone; and the style will be Decorated Gothic. At the north-west corner will be a tower of more than 100 feet in height. The total cost inclusive of the sum paid for the land will be between £5000 and £6000. The plans have been prepared by Mr John Eltringham, of Sunderland who will supervise the work”
