Birkenhead, Claughton Road UMFC chapel

Claughton Road UMFC chapel which seated 550 persons was built in 1881. The architect was R H Roberts of Everton and the contractor Edward Legge of Birkenhead. The materials were brick with red brick facings

  • The foundation/memorial stone was laid 12th October 1880 by Arthur J Williams former Liberal Candidate for Birkenhead. The service was led by Rev Richard Diamond (1845-1925) resident minister.

    The church was opened 30th June 1881 when Rev Marmaduke Miller (1827-1889) was the preacher.
