Heanor, Mount Street United Methodist Free Church chapel, Derbyshire

Heanor United Methodist Free Church chapel was built in 1912 to replace a chapel built in 1867 which had seated 350. Bulmer described this earlier building as “a neat two storey building, comprising chapel and school”. In 1940 the chapel estate consisted of the chapel which seated 286 on forms, a school hall and three other rooms. Later a side extension was added at the back of the chapel. In 1970 the chapel seated 220 and the school, which was probably below the chapel, 270. There were two classrooms. The chapel has since been closed.
