This chapel was opened in 1874, according to the Hampshire Archives and Local Studies catalogue entry for the records of Winchester Methodist Circuit. It replaced the previous chapel on Upper Brook Street.
The evidence suggests that the chapel closed in 1937: that is the year the baptismal register ceases, and the chapel is marked as such for the first time on the 1932 25 inch Ordnance Survey map of Winchester, but not on the 1939 revision.
