G.W. Oxley adds: Lumbutts United Methodist Free Church chapel was built in 1877. It was designed by J Horsfall of Todmorden in the Gothic style and was expected to cost about £1200. The chapel was set on a substantial tree edged plot on the road to Mankinholes. This is one of those tricky locations: Todmorden is now in Lancashire, but Lumbutts has always been in the West Riding of Yorkshire.
