Sunday school buildings were erected behind the chapel in 1880. A report of the opening stated that
“The buildings consist of a central hall 48 feet by 20 feet, with class rooms, infants’ room, cloakrooms, and lavatories opening off on three sides, accommodation being provided for 350 children. The forms, tables, chairs, and other fittings were specially designed by the architect, Mr John Wills of Derby. The style of the building is Italian, in harmony with the proposed reconstructed chapel. Messrs E Young and Sons were the builders, and the cost has been £1400”
