There’s a cluster of three United Methodist Free Church chapels within 2.5 miles of each other in west Wiltshire, just east of Bath, at Box, Box Hill and Kingsdown.
Kingsdown, the smallest, was the last to be built and the most perilously balanced on a very steep hillside. In 2024, it still carries its 1926 datestone in residential use.
Kingsdown appears in the 1940 list of Methodist Buildings. It is described as stone built, with seating for 90 on chairs. In addition to the main hall, there was a Sunday school room, presumably on the lower floor.
