Staple Hill United Methodist Free Church chapel and schoolroom were built in 1873, A report of its stone laying stated that
“the plans of the new buildings were furnished by Mr Mitchell of Bristol and the tender of Mr G Bennet, builder, of Staple Hill was accepted. The chapel will be constructed of Portland stone with Bath stone dressings, The schoolroom is underneath the chapel and its dimensions in the clear are 66ft. long by 40ft. wide. The chapel will accommodate about 600 persons and the schoolroom a like number of children. The edifice will cost about £2000”
