The former Victoria Road Methodist Church in Camelford began life as a Bible Christian chapel.  It is marked on Ordnance Survey maps of 1883 and 1907, although the precise building is not clear.

Street View shows  a building with the datestone – “Bible Christian Sunday School 1885 – Bethel”.  Jo Lewis suggests that the chapel is the larger building to its left, with the manse next to that.

The manse was the birthplace of Samuel Pollard, son of a Bible Christian minister who became a minister himself and a missionary to China. You can read about Samuel on this site  here .

  • The building next door is apparently the manse, where the missionary Samuel Pollard was born. It is a listed building, and a description may be found here https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1143565
