In 2024, Box Methodist Church is the successor to the former United Methodist chapel. The Church website tells the story of the society and the building.
The current chapel was opened in 1897, but it was built alongside an earlier chapel, named Ebenezer, built in 1834 which became too small for the growing society. For a further decade the original chapel served as a Sunday school but in 1905 was replaced by a new two storey school building. The 1905 Sunday school was sold in 2001 and converted to residential use; the money was used to finance the refurbishment of the chapel.
