Alfred Evans was born in Bournemouth in 1879, and moved as young man to Southampton, where he was involved with the Bible Christian chapel and worked in the grocery trade.

Following his candidating for the ministry in 1902 he was trained at Shebbear College.

From 1903 to 1905 he was stationed in the St. Columb Circuit, before spending the rest of his ministry in China. His stations from 1905 to 1933 were:

1917 Tong Chuan

1919 Yunnan Fu

1922 furlough

1923 Yunnan Fu & Kopu

1927 furlough

Alfred married his fellow missionary Bessie Alice Bull on 10th December 1907. The story of their life together is the subject of a book Pearl and Bessie

Alfred died on 4th February, 1967 in Hong Kong, and he has an obituary in the Minutes of Conference for that year.
