Alfred Cleave George was born on 13 May 1877 in Egloshayle, Cornwall to John George, a mason, and Rebecca Jane (nee Cleave). He was baptised at Egloshaye Road UMFC chapel in Wadebridge on 26 June 1877. When he was fourteen he was apprenticed to a grocer in Wadebridge, but entered Victoria Park College, the UMFC ministerial training at the age of twenty-two in 1899.
He was received into full connexion in 1905, becoming a minister of the United Methodist Church on union in 1907 and the Methodist Church in 1932. He retired in 1942 to Rochdale then to Sutton.
Alfred died on 3 Jul 1956 in Sutton, Surrey, and was buried in Cheslyn Hay, Staffordshire, where he had previously been a minister.
Family
Alfred married Florence Langley (1874-1959) on 2nd August 1905 in Clutton, Somerset. They had four children.
