Family
Richard was born on 19 July 1845 at Sampford Courtenay, Devon, to parents Richard and Catherine Dimond. His father was a labourer, who died leaving four children in 1849.
Before entering the Free Methodist ministry in 1872 he was a labourer.
He married Emily Gamble (1848-1911) in the autumn of 1877 in Derby. They had four children

- Sydney George (1882-1968) A United Methodist Free Churches minister
- Winifred (1887-)
- Alexander (1890-1965) A United Methodist minister
Richard died on 8 March 1925 at Keighley, West Riding. His obituary may be found in the Minutes of the United Methodist Church, page 40.
