Scrane End is a hamlet in the parish of Freiston near Boston.

Wesleyan Reformers, who had failed in their attempts to take control of the Wesleyan in Freiston, already had use of a chapel in Scrane End by 1864. This could possibly have been the old Primitive Methodist of 1838 at (or near) Freiston Shore (next to Scrane End), which appears to have closed in the 1860s.

The foundation stone for the second chapel (now closed but extant) was laid on Tuesday 17th May 1887, followed by a tea for 250 in Mr Plummer’s barn. Of brick, with windows in the pointed Gothic style, the building accommodated 100 people.

Circuits: Boston United Methodist Free; Boston United Methodist post 1907; and Boston (The Square) Methodist post union.

Decreasing attendances in this remote area led to closure in 1984. The following year, a successful application was made for conversion into a dwelling. Although the brickwork is now rendered, the building retains its chapel-like appearance.
