I visited Framwellgate Moor Methodist church for a Christmas service over thirty years ago – and was very pleased to discover on a visit to County Durham in April 2022 that the chapel still hosts an active society.
The carved stone over the entrance door gives the opening date as 1869.
The memorial stones on the later extension to the rear of the premises celebrate:
- Mr & Mrs T Beswick and family
- Mr & Mrs G Hall and family
- Isabella Hall and family
- Mr Robert & Mrs Dorothy Hall
- Mr & Mrs T Holmes (Sacriston)
- Mr Anthony Lowery
- Benjamin and Margaret Mason
- Mr George Minto
- Hazel Molineux
- John C Morley
- Kathleen and Brian Russell
- Mr & Mrs T Stuart
What is the story?
