By 1849, Reformers were dominant in Fakenham’s Wesleyan Society, and took full control of the Wesleyan chapel (former Congregational) in White Horse Street.
They joined the United Methodist Free Churches circa 1857, and established the Fakenham Circuit in the Norwich District of the UMFC.
In keeping with many Free Methodists during the latter part of the nineteenth-century, there was a return to the Wesleyan fold. Along with two other circuit chapels, Ryburgh and Stibbard, members changed allegiance in 1882 and re-joined the Wesleyan Connexion. At the time of this re-union there were 60 members in the Fakenham Society.
Two years after the opening of the Oak Street Wesleyan chapel in 1892, the old building sold for £150. Now Grade II listed, it is presently the Conservative Club.
