J. Bowen 8 Sep 2015

Ann Vickery (1800-1853) and Mary Ann Taylor (1804-1892) were amongst the longest serving female itinerant preachers within the Bible Christian Connexion.  Ann Vickery married Paul Robins, a fellow preacher in 1831.  The couple came to Canada in 1846.  Ann died a few years later in 1853. Paul Robins returned briefly to England married Mary Ann Taylor in 1854 in Cornwall. Paul and Mary then returned to Canada.

The tombstones for both women acknowledge their service to the Bible Christians as transcribed in 1986.

Ann Vickery: “She was converted through the instrumentality of the Bible Christians A.D. 1819 and for 34 y’rs commended the Saviour to the acceptance of others.”

Mary Ann Taylor: “For 32 years previous to her marriage she laboured diligently as an itinerant preacher among the Bible Christians.”

  • It would be nice to know a little bit about Paul Robins, also a preacher, who was married to both of these extraordinary ladies, including his birth and death year.
