Nankivell, Susan (1801-1877) - Tombstone at Mount Pleasant Cemetery

Susan Nankivell (1801-1877) was an early female itinerant preacher in 1817.  On 21 Dec 1826 she married William Newcombe in West Woolfardisworthy, Devon.  Reference to her preaching is made in the Memoir of John Chapple in the October 1849 issue of the Bible Christian Magazine and also in the March 1854 issue.  Susan, a widow, and her family came to Canada West in 1857 initially settling in Bowmanville, Ontario then moving onto Toronto.  Susan died on 10 Apr 1877.
