Courtice, Grace Mason (1801-1872) - Tombstone at Ebenezer Cemetery

Grace Mason was only a female itinerant preacher in 1819 & 1820 when she desisted.  Grace was the younger sister of other female itinerant preachers Ann Mason Freeman (1797-1826) and Mary Mason (b.1797).  Grace Mason married Christopher Courtice in Sutcombe, Devon on 9 Feb 1821. Letters between Ann Mason and her sister and brother-in-law are published in a Memoir of the Life and Ministry of Ann Freeman published by Henry Freeman.

Grace and Christopher Courtice came to Upper Canada in 1833 along with Christopher’s siblings, James and Harriet with their spouses, to join Thomas Courtice who came to Upper Canada in 1831.
