Old Pound Bible Christian chapel

Old Pound Bible Christian chapel is in the parish of St Stephen. It was built in 1886 with some later alterations of granite rubble with brick dressings and a bitumenised slate roof. The chapel is built into the slope of the ground and at the rear there is an integral Sunday school on a lower storey.

Street View in 2009 shows it still active as a chapel.

It is Grade II Listed Building and you can see the specification and picture here.

Jo Lewis tells us that the datestone says 1886 but the building is present as a Bible Christian chapel on 1881 maps which suggests there may have been an earlier building on this spot.  It is simply labelled as Church by 1932.

Planning documents show that it had a roof repair in 2014 and a complete refurb in 2017.

The Sunday school nearby became derelict and a caravan was sited inside it in 1985. It was re instated as a Sunday school in 2010.
