Bossiney Methodist church in the parish of Tintagel is a former Bible Christian chapel

Its datestone tells us that it was built in 1860 and the internal seating was re-organised in 1907. It is built of slate-stone rubble, partly slate-hung on the left hand side wall, with a slate roof and gable ends.

  • Geoff, there’s a good guide to finding out about a closed chapel and the people who were part of its story on this website here.

When a chapel closes, the records, including registers and minutes form various meetings would usually be passed to the local authority archives for safe keeping. The records might be stored under the name of the chapel or of the circuit (the group of churches) it was part of.

    Good luck with your search.

  • I am visiting the area in 2 months & interested in history of the church relating to my ancestors who were based at the Trethevy farm nearby. Any information appreciated. Tx Geoff
