Bennacott Bible Christian chapel

Bennacott Bible Christian chapel

Bennacott Bible Christian chapel became Bennacott Methodist chapel.  Built in 1879 of painted stone rubble with brick dressings, it had a Rag slate roof with gable ends.  It had a rectangular  floor plan with internally a gallery at the west end

A datestone above  the porch visible on Street View from 2014   says ‘Bible Christian chapel 1879’. Interestingly on earlier Street View the same datestone said ‘United Methodist chapel 1879’. The explanation comes in that the Bible Christians were a founding member of the United Methodist Connexion in 1907. A painted sign on the chapel wall also declares ‘ Bennacott chapel 1879 – 2007’.

There is an adjacent cemetery.

The chapel is a Grade II Listed Building. You can see a description and picture here.
