Ebenezer Methodist New Connexion chapel was built in 1836, In 1851 the Society Steward stated that “The access to our chapel being in such a miserable condition and shame to the town it militates very much indeed against us”, The chapel provided 84 free and 358 other sittings.

This chapel was replaced by a larger chapel  in 1875.
